683 The imposing 683 is the genuine three-way speaker of the 600 Series, with a line-up of technologies and a level of performance that defies its entry-level place in the market. For large rooms, two 683s make a formidable partnership, either for stereo hi-fi or fronting a home theatre installation. Deep, dynamic, bottom-end power is delivered by a pair of aluminium/paper/Kevlar® composite cone bass drive units. The 150mm Kevlar® midrange handles middle frequencies with its characteristic clarity and tunefulness, but, for the first time in a 600 Series speaker, includes FST cone surround technology for extra detail and resolution. The Nautilus tube-loaded, aluminium dome tweeter, featuring a new surround material to improve spaciousness and imaging, adds needle-sharp top end all the way to 50kHz and beyond.

684 The extended bass response and output capacity of the 2 1/2-way 684 floorstander make it a great choice for hi-fi or home cinema in medium-sized to large rooms. It features a new combination of a pair of Kevlar® cones for delivering its bass and midrange. The lower cone is dedicated to bass, which relieves the upper bass/midrange unit of the duty to handle heavy bass and leads to clearer, crisper midrange than you might find in smaller speakers. The Nautilus tube-loaded, aluminium dome tweeter, featuring a new surround material to improve spaciousness and imaging, adds needle-sharp top end all the way to 50kHz and beyond.

685 For hi-fi or home cinema in small to medium-sized rooms, you need a loudspeaker that doesn't take up floor area, but whose sound can still command the space. You'll find the 685, which can sit on a shelf, table, stand or wall-mount, an inspired choice. Its 165mm diameter Kevlar® cone bass/midrange is based on a tried-and-trusted B&W design, but its new fixed centre bullet helps to smooth the response in upper frequencies. Also, by setting the bass/midrange closer to the tweeter than in equivalent earlier speakers, we have improved the integration and vertical dispersion of sound from the two units. The Nautilus tube-loaded, aluminium dome tweeter, featuring a new surround material to improve spaciousness and imaging, adds needle-sharp top end all the way to 50kHz and beyond.

686
The 686 is the baby of the 600 Series bunch, but doesn't lack for the technologies and features to deliver outrageously good sound in smaller room settings. Mount a pair on a wall or stand, or simply sit them on a shelf or table for a compact stereo system or as surround speakers in a home theatre set-up. The 130mm diameter Kevlar® cone bass/midrange is based on a tried-and-trusted B&W design, but its new fixed centre bullet helps to smooth the response in upper frequencies. Also, by setting the bass/midrange closer to the tweeter than in equivalent earlier speakers, we have improved the integration and vertical dispersion of sound from the two units. HTM61 The HTM61 is the larger of the two centre speakers in the 600 Series, and is tailor-made to partner either of the two floorstanding main speakers (the 683 or 684) in a commanding home theatre system. It's an impressive piece of equipment in itself: a full, three-way speaker comprising a 165mm diameter Kevlar® bass/midrange, a 150mm diameter Kevlar® midrange with FST cone surround technology, and a Nautilus tube-loaded tweeter. It doesn't have to be laid horizontal beneath the screen, as is the custom with centre speakers. If space is lacking, stand it upright. Either way, the HTM61 is cut out for centre stage.

HTM62 For home theatre systems in small to medium-sized rooms, where it can team up with a pair of 684 floorstanders or 685 bookshelf units in the front positions, the HTM62 offers outstanding centre speaker performance. Its symmetrical design allows for horizontal orientation or vertical, if room is running out. Twin 130mm Kevlar® bass/midrange units sit either side of a Nautilus tube-loaded tweeter, making a presence powerful enough to match the main speakers in the room.

DS3 For large home theatre installations, choose a pair of rear speakers that can get you closer to the true surround sound of the cinema. The DS3 is a wall-mounted surround speaker that can operate in what's called 'dipole' mode, to create an authentic all-enveloping effect of the auditorium in a large space. Or, you may prefer to switch to conventional 'monopole' operation, in which the sound from side or rear is more precisely located and less diffuse. The choice depends on the room conditions, the size of the audience and the kind of material on view.

ASW610XP The ASW610XP, the most powerful of the 600 Series subwoofers, delivers the finishing touch - or finishing thump - to a hi-fi or home theatre system for larger rooms. Serious bass power is developed in a compact cabinet thanks to the unit's twin 200W amplifiers and dual voice coil, long-throw 250mm driver. Equipped with audiophile-standard Class D circuitry, the unit remains cool and efficient under pressure. In all of the 600 Series subwoofers, the bass driver diaphragms are constructed from a rugged, finely-tuned mix of paper pulp, Kevlar® fibres and resin, which provides the stiffness needed to withstand the tremendous physical forces exerted by the voice coil and pressures inside the cabinet.

ASW610 The ASW610 subwoofer presents a very happy medium between the more diminutive ASW608 and the all-out power of the ASW610XP. Its long-throw 250mm driver allows the ASW610 to move the large volumes of air needed for high-quality low-frequency output, and its audiophile-standard 200W Class D amplifier keeps the compact unit running cool, even when the music or movie action is whipping up a storm.
