The imposing 683 is the genuine three-way speaker of the 600 Series, with a line-up of technologies and a level of performance that defies its entry-level place in the market. For large rooms, two 683s make a formidable partnership, either for stereo hi-fi or fronting a home theatre installation.

Deep, dynamic, bottom-end power is delivered by a pair of aluminium/paper/Kevlar® composite cone bass drive units. The 150mm Kevlar® midrange handles middle frequencies with its characteristic clarity and tunefulness, but, for the first time in a 600 Series speaker, includes FST cone surround technology for extra detail and resolution. HTM61

The HTM61 is the larger of the two centre speakers in the 600 Series, and is tailor-made to partner either of the two floorstanding main speakers (the 683 or 684) in a commanding home theatre system.

It's an impressive piece of equipment in itself: a full, three-way speaker comprising a 165mm diameter Kevlar® bass/midrange, a 150mm diameter Kevlar® midrange with FST cone surround technology, and a Nautilus™ tube-loaded tweeter. It doesn't have to be laid horizontal beneath the screen, as is the custom with centre speakers. If space is lacking, stand it upright. Either way, the HTM61 is cut out for centre stage.

For home theatre systems in small to medium-sized rooms, where it can team up with a pair of 684 floorstanders or 685 bookshelf units in the front positions, the HTM62 offers outstanding centre speaker performance.

Its symmetrical design allows for horizontal orientation or vertical, if room is running out. Twin 130mm Kevlar® bass/midrange units sit either side of a Nautilus™ tube-loaded tweeter, making a presence powerful enough to match the main speakers in the room.

For large home theatre installations, choose a pair of rear speakers that can get you closer to the true surround sound of the cinema.

The DS3 is a wall-mounted surround speaker that can operate in what's called 'dipole' mode, to create an authentic all-enveloping effect of the auditorium in a large space. Or, you may prefer to switch to conventional 'monopole' operation, in which the sound from side or rear is more precisely located and less diffuse. The choice depends on the room conditions, the size of the audience and the kind of material on view.

The ASW610XP, the most powerful of the 600 Series subwoofers, delivers the finishing touch - or finishing thump - to a hi-fi or home theatre system for larger rooms. Serious bass power is developed in a compact cabinet thanks to the unit's twin 200W amplifiers and dual voice coil, long-throw 250mm driver. Equipped with audiophile-standard Class D circuitry, the unit remains cool and efficient under pressure.

In all of the 600 Series subwoofers, the bass driver diaphragms are constructed from a rugged, finely-tuned mix of paper pulp, Kevlar® fibres and resin, which provides the stiffness needed to withstand the tremendous physical forces exerted by the voice coil and pressures inside the cabinet.
